Artist Books

My artist books pair storytelling with the architectural form of the book.  Both elements influence each other and enhance the visual narrative.

For story inspiration I look to history.  I enjoy giving voice to characters who are less known , overlooked, or even forgotten.  Other stories are inspired by myth and culture.  Sometimes I use the words of others, but frequently I write my own texts.

In my exploration of physical book structures, I am drawn to unusual historical styles, such as the Medieval girdle book, intended to hang from a traveler's belt.  I am fascinated by modern structures featuring movement and light.  Sometimes I even explore sound.
