Shining Air: The Cuchavira Series debuted in December 2025. This collection is inspired by South American birds, myth, and storytelling.
I partnered with emerging Colombian writer Daniel López to create a series of 5 birds, whose stories are told through words and image. Daniel crafted his stories in Spanish and English, imagining how these birds were formed from the mind of Cuchavira (“shining air”), the rainbow god of the Muisca. To accompany Daniel’s stories, I created an image of each bird using pulp.
This limited series of original art features only 10 versions of each bird. Sold as a set of five or individually.
We hope you enjoy this collaboration celebrating these remarkable birds.
Created in Chicago (USA) and Cali (Colombia), November/December 2025
